Uppercut Studios provides full-body motion capture, facial performance capture and synchronized sound recording.

Using Vicon optical tracking, we capture and process body motion in Vicon Shogun while facial performance and sound can be recorded alongside the actors. Performances can be visualized on digital characters in real time through our Unreal Engine pipeline, giving directors and animation teams immediate feedback during the session.

From individual character animation to multi-actor dialogue, combat, interaction and cinematic scenes, our capture setup can be adapted to the requirements of each production.

Performance Capture Services

Beyond the capture session itself, we support your production with services ranging from early planning to final delivery.

Session Support

We’ll help to plan the capture session around the needs of the scene, including performer setup, tracked props, multi-actor interaction and technical preparation.

We can assist with performer sourcing, with a particular focus on actors and performers available in the local Estonian market. Where required, we can help identify suitable talent based on age, height, physical profile and performance needs.

Remote teams can participate in capture sessions through our custom-built remote production platform, allowing directors and production teams to follow the session without being physically present in the studio.

Captured motion can be cleaned and refined to remove tracking artefacts, improve continuity and prepare the data for animation or further processing.

We can retarget captured performances to your production characters and skeletons, helping move the data from the capture stage into the animation pipeline.

Retargeting is an essential part of pre-production when real-time previs is required. Sessions can also be recorded without previs if real-time character visualization is not needed.
